Jericho Rosales joins the cast of I Love Betty La Fea, which is topbilled by Bea Alonso (Betty) and John Lloyd Cruz (Armando).

After her bitter break up with Armando (John Lloyd Cruz), Betty (Bea Alonzo) decided to join a model-search contest so she can pay for her father’s hospital bills. But what she doesn’t know is that she is about to meet someone who will open a new chapter in her life. Enter Aldo who will be played by one of the hottest leading men in showbiz, Jericho Rosales.

The actor met with the press on January 15 to talk about his new role in I Love Betty La Fea. When asked if people will react to negatively to Aldo being the third wheel in the Betty-Armando romance, he replied, “I’m always optimistic whenever I play a character. In real life hindi ko hilig ang mang-intrude (laughs). When I play a character, ‘yun talaga ang character ko. I hope the people will love not just my character but kung paano mabubuo ‘yung situation involving the three characters. Based on what I have read and what was explained to me the character is interesting. Hindi siya kaiinisan.”

Jericho first got to work with Bea in the 2005 film Pacquiao where Echo played boxing champ Manny Pacquiao and Bea played Paquiao’s wife Jinky. But Echo never had the chance to get to know Bea that well during the filming which is why he now feels excited to be working with the young actress in a series. “Ibang character ang ipe-play ko at ganun din si Bea so excited ako, working with her again but different roles na. Bea is one of best leading ladies in the industry. It’s a wonderful opportunity for me to work with her again.”

The press pointed out that John Lloyd is in a relationship while Jericho and Bea are both single, with some wondering if there’s a possibility of a romance to blossom between the two. However, Jericho said that he would rather not court anyone at this time and just focus on his work. “Baka pwede kong sabihin na, ‘Will you marry me?’…sa I Love Betty La Fea (laughs). Last quarter pa lang ng 2008 nai-intriga na ako. From Carmen Soo, Anne Curtis, KC Concepcion, Karylle… Ngayon kinikilig ako in a way but it’s with the opportunities that are coming. It was a great opportunity working with these ladies. I had established a good friendship with all of them and there’s nothing wrong with that. I just came from a breakup, it was a three-year intense relationship. It wouldn’t be fair kung meron akong liligawan this time kasi baka maging rebound lang ‘yung mangyari.”

Being cast in I Love Betty La Fea also gives Echo the chance to finally work with John Lloyd. As early as now, many are looking forward to seeing the acting showdown between the two as they fight over Betty. But Jericho said he has no intention of upstaging John Lloyd in their scenes together. “Piolo (Pascual), John Lloyd, and other great actors are all in one station. I wonder why hindi kami nagkakatrabaho. I’ve been wishing and praying that I get to work with Piolo, with John Lloyd not because gusto ko ng showdown but because I want to work with good actors. I think sapawan is tiring and is just a waste of time. It’s crab mentality. I’m excited to work with John Lloyd and kung nasaan man siya ngayon I’m sure he’s very comfortable. I’m comfortable naman with my craft and kung nasaan man ako ngayon. I will never ever try to upstage anyone because I’m a team player.”

Watch out for Jericho Rosales’s character Aldo set to make his debut very soon on I Love Betty La Fea.
